SUPPORTING LGBTQI+ REFUGEES ACROSS SOUTH-EAST ASIA

Many Coloured Sky’s longstanding relationships with LGBTQI+ communities, organisations and networks across South East Asia has highlighted the movements of LGBTQI+ people across national borders as they seek safety from persecution, violence and discrimination. Some nations in the region are far better in upholding their responsibilities to citizens and recognising LGBTQI+ rights and communities than others, but this does not mean that LGBTQI+ refugees will be welcomed, or safe, crossing borders.

With the collaboration and support of region-wide, national and local groups across the region we are mapping pathways and supports available to LGBTQI+ people who are forced to flee within or to the region, and building the capacity and networks of organisations so that they are better positioned to provide support. This work is happening across 2021 and 2022.
